The Hamilton Steelhawks could not stop the Brantford Blast's Brandon Dietrich, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-4 win.

Dietrich's first goal came 5:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:30 into the third and at 19:59 into the third.

Brantford forced Hamilton's netminders to work all game long, firing 43 shots and forcing 36 saves. Tim Rogers made 25 stops and Ben Goss made 11. The Blast put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Steelhawks to score on any of their five power plays. Brantford outdid its season average for goals scored. The Blast average 4.6 goals per game.

Brantford additionally got points from Derek Medeiros, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jamie Wright, who also had one goal and two assists. Brantford also had goals scored by Chris Rebernik and Chris Leveille, who each put in one. In addition, Brantford received assists from Jamie Williams, who had two, Joel Prpic, who had three, and Cameron Sault, Dustin Alcock, and Jeff Caister, who each chipped in one.

Hamilton was helped by Joel Petkoff, who finished with one goal and two assists. Petkoff scored 3:04 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Brantford. Colin Isnor assisted on the tally. Mark Rodgers also scored for Hamilton. More assists for Hamilton came via Kyle McQuade, who had three.

Brantford's Brett Leggat stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Blast incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Steelhawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
