Stoney Creek rolls over Hamilton, 8-3Mountain Arena Sat, Nov 14, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stoney Creek Generals had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Hamilton Steelhawks. Stoney Creek forced Steelhawks' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots and forcing 47 saves. Tim Rogers made 39 stops and Ben Goss made eight. The Generals were helped by Mike Ruberto, who had two goals. Ruberto scored the first of his two goals at 18:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stoney Creek. Andrew Radjenovic picked up the assist. Ruberto's next tally made the score 5-2 Stoney Creek with 13:14 left in the third period. Sean Blanchard assisted on the tally. Stoney Creek additionally got points from Jordan Gignac, who also registered one goal and one assist, Blanchard, who also had one goal and one assist, and Myles Falasca, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Tyler Donati also scored for Stoney Creek. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Marcus Ruberto, Ryan O Marra, and Roger Sherwood, who contributed one each and Jeff Leaist and Chris Knighton, who each chipped in two. Hamilton managed to stay out of the box for the most part, racking up one minor for 22 minutes in penalty time. However, the total the 12.0 minutes in penalty time per game the Steelhawks had been averaging this year. Hamilton's offense rang up 42 shots on Stoney Creek's net. The Steelhawks were led by Cody Wilson, who racked up one goal and two assists. Wilson scored on the power play 15:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stoney Creek. Hamilton had taken the advantage when the Generals' Radjenovic got sent off for hooking. Steven Mueller picked up the assist. Hamilton also got a goal from Kyle McQuade as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Gary Clarke and Cole McNeil, who contributed one each. Daniel Svedin made 39 saves for Stoney Creek on 42 shots. The Generals incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Steelhawks registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
