Brantford erases deficit to stun Stoney Creek, 6-5

The Brantford Blast climbed out of a four-goal hole to beat the Stoney Creek Generals, 6-5.

Brantford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Blast fell behind 5-1 after a goal by Stoney Creek's Andrew Radjenovic at 5:39 in the second period. Brantford knotted things up at 5-5 on a short handed goal by Ryan McCarthy at 9:15 in the third period. The Blast scored the game winner short handed at 18:40 in the third period on a goal by McCarthy.

Brantford got the win on the strength of a great game by Joel Prpic, who had one goal and four assists.

Brantford additionally got points from Jeff Caister, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brantford also got a goal from Derek Medeiros as well. More assists for Brantford came via Cameron Sault and Jamie Wright, who contributed one each.

The Generals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Stoney Creek forced the Blast goalie Brett Leggat to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

The Generals were helped by Mike Ruberto, who had one goal and two assists. Ruberto scored 3:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Stoney Creek. Radjenovic assisted on the tally. Stoney Creek also got points from Jarrett Konkle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Radjenovic, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Nathan Pageau also scored for Stoney Creek. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Dylan Quaile, Jordan Gignac, and Justin Sawyer, who each chipped in one.

Leggat recorded 49 saves for Brantford. The Blast incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Alex Wyse made 14 saves before being replaced by Daniel Svedin, who took the loss and made four saves. Stoney Creek incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
