Orillia survives Midland comeback, wins 5-4

The Midland Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Orillia Terriers held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Jason Binnie put Orillia up 5-3 in the third period, but Midland pulled to within one on Evan Buehler's tally 16:59 into the third period.

The Terriers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Orillia's offense rang up 40 shots on the Flyers' net. The Terriers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Orillia averages 2.7 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Others who scored for Orillia included Zane Morris, Denny Benson, Kameron Wilson, and Matt Vince, who each put in one. In addition, Orillia received assists from Kyle Fischer, Jared Orr, Corey Miller, and Mike Barroso, who each chipped in one and Quinn Steele and Mathew White, who contributed two each.

Midland forced the Terriers goalie Gordie Weiss to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

The Flyers were led by Tully Jackson, who had one goal and two assists. Jackson scored 15:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matt Schieck assisted on the tally. Midland additionally got points from Buehler, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Francesco Corona, who also registered one goal and one assist. Midland also got a goal from Corey DeRose as well. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Jon Goldsworthy, who had one.

Gordie Weiss made 46 saves for Orillia on 50 shots. The Terriers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jake Norton rejected 35 shots on goal for Midland. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
