Stayner rides Bloch to victory over Schomberg, 4-1

Trevor Bloch had a standout game with 31 saves, and the Stayner Siskins beat the Schomberg Cougars 4-1.

Stayner was paced by Ricky Darrell, who racked up one goal and one assist. Darrell scored 4:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stayner. Trevor Franklin assisted on the tally.

Schomberg was unable to stop the Siskins from sending pucks towards the net, and Stayner eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Siskins' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Stayner finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Stayner additionally got points from Lucas Jeffery, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kyle Lafreniere, who also had one goal and one assist. Stayner also got a goal from Sean Healy as well. More assists for Stayner came via Griffin Pearce, who had two.

The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Stayner power plays. Schomberg's offense operated below its season average. The Cougars put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Schomberg's offense rang up 32 shots on the Siskins' net. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Schomberg was led by JP Crescenzi, who scored the team's only goal. Crescenzi scored on the power play 13:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Cougars had taken the advantage when Stayner's Kyle Sickinger got sent off for roughing after whistle. Liam Spurgeon picked up the assist.

Schomberg's Vince Michelizzi stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Cougars registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
