Caledon outlasts Huntsville, 3-2

The Caledon Golden Hawks gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Huntsville Otters.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nicholas McNutt at 19:43 of the second period.

McNutt was all over the ice for Caledon, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win.

The Golden Hawks stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Caledon also got points from Daniel Cafagna, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Caledon also got a goal from Mathew Pyz as well. In addition, Caledon received assists from John Cyfko and Ryan Wonfor, who each chipped in one.

Caledon was unable to stop the Otters from sending pucks towards the net, and Huntsville eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Otters were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Huntsville was helped by Andy Baker, who tallied one goal. Baker scored 18:18 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. Ty Traynor provided the assist. Josh Zantingh also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Nathan Zantingh and Dalton Mceachran, who contributed one each.

Sam Procopio made 34 saves for the Golden Hawks on 36 shots. Caledon incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Otters' Nathan Antonides stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Huntsville registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
