Alliston penalty kill dominates in 6-1 defeat of StaynerStayner Memorial Arena Thu, Jan 14, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stayner Siskins failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Alliston Hornets shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-1. Alliston was led by Devon Gillham, who had one goal. Gillham scored 7:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. Mitch Livingston picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:12 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. The Hornets racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Alliston had been spending in the box. The Hornets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Alliston forced Stayner goalie Luke Aulthouse to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Hornets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Alliston also got points from Stephen Nosad, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Alliston also had goals scored by Payton Dunlop, Braydon Hogarth, John Gage, and Matt Hamilton, who scored one goal each.
