Healy nets hat trick, leads Stayner to 8-3 win over Schomberg

Sean Healy netted a hat trick to lead the Stayner Siskins over the Schomberg Cougars, 8-3.

Healy's first goal came 16:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:05 into the second and at 15:23 into the second.

Stayner's penalty kill excelled, as the Siskins gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

Stayner's offense rang up 41 shots on Schomberg's net. The Siskins outdid their season average for goals scored. Stayner averages 3.8 goals per game. The Siskins could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stayner additionally got points from Kyle Lafreniere, who also registered two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Stayner also had goals scored by Dakota Hynes, Lucas Jeffery, and Brendon Skidmore, who each put in one. More assists for Stayner came via Griffin Pearce, who had two, Jordan Taylor, who had three, and Keenan McLaen-Hill, Kyle Paulitzki, and Matt Hayward, who contributed one each.

The Cougars kept Stayner's goalie busy throughout the game, and Luke Aulthouse made 33 saves on 36 shots. Schomberg struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 36 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

The Cougars were helped by JP Crescenzi, who racked up one goal. Crescenzi scored on the power play 6:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Schomberg had gained a power play chance when Kort Weir was whistled for interference. Justin Formenton provided the assist. Others who scored for Schomberg included Liam Spurgeon and Kiefer McIntosh, who scored one goal each. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Joseph Mete, Ryley Egerton, Declan Lampe, Brendan Spencer, and Tanner Smith, who each chipped in one.

Alex Traikos made 33 saves for the Cougars on 41 shots.
