Caledon blows out Erin, 6-2

The Caledon Golden Hawks were firing on all cylinders against the Erin Shamrocks, and when the final buzzer sounded Golden Hawks emerged with a 6-2 win.

Matt Magliozzi was all over the ice for Caledon, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Magliozzi scored 11:49 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Caledon. Mathew Pyz provided the assist.

The Golden Hawks forced Shamrocks' netminders to work between the pipes, launching 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Tom Denstedt made 13 stops and Mark Terry made 19. Caledon excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Golden Hawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Caledon averages 3.7 goals per game.

Caledon also got points from Pyz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Caledon included Ryan Mouser and Nicholas McNutt, who each put in two. More assists for Caledon came via Tyler Whitten, who had two, Michael Andrews, who had three, and James Pitsadiotis and Daniel Cafagna, who contributed one each.

Erin managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Shamrocks ended up below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Erin's offense rang up 36 shots on the Golden Hawks' net.

The Shamrocks were helped by Brigg Jones, who had one goal. Jones scored 13:04 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Caledon. Justin Wing picked up the assist. Erin also got a goal from Mike Nicolucci as well. In addition, Erin received assists from Liam Kendall, who had one.

Brendan Macham rejected 34 shots on goal for Caledon. The Golden Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
