Caledon hangs on, beats Orillia 2-0

The Caledon Golden Hawks beat the Orillia Terriers, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 19:40 into the first period by Ben Ardis proved to be the game winner, and powered Caledon to the victory. James Pitsadiotis provided the assist.

The Golden Hawks were led by Ardis, who finished with one goal.

Caledon's offense rang up 55 shots on Orillia's net.

Nicholas McNutt also scored for Caledon. In addition, Caledon received assists from Cameron Frail, who had one.

The Terriers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Caledon power plays. Orillia was held below its usual level of production. The Terriers average 2.4 goals per game.

The Golden Hawks' Brendan Macham stopped 19 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Caledon ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kevin Pleasance was ejected from the game. Gordie Weiss made 53 saves for Orillia on 54 shots. The Terriers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
