Stayner comes out on top against Penetang in back-and-forth-game, 5-4

The game between the Stayner Siskins and the Penetang Kings evolved into a seesaw battle, but Stayner eventually prevailed 5-4 after four lead changes.

The Siskins got the win on the strength of a great game by Keenan McLaen-Hill, who had two goals and two assists. McLaen-Hill scored the first of his two goals at 1:15 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stayner. Ricky Darrell assisted on the tally. McLaen-Hill's next tally made the score 4-4 with 15:01 left in the third period. Darrell picked up the assist.

Stayner could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Stayner also had goals scored by Trevor Franklin, Jordan Taylor, and Sean Healy, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stayner received assists from Lucas Jeffery, Kort Weir, and Ryan Hudson, who each chipped in one.

Penetang got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Kings were led by Nick Heins, who had two goals. Heins scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:35 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Penetang had gotten the advantage when the Siskins' Weir was sent off for holding. Matt VanBoven assisted on the tally. Heins' next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 3:03 left in the second period. An interference penalty on Weir had put the Kings on the power play. Matt Cochrane picked up the assist. Others who scored for Penetang included Dallin Blunt and Braeden Dorion, who each put in one. More assists for Penetang came via Ben Sly, Matt Gill, and Andrew North, who contributed one each.

Trevor Bloch made 25 saves for Stayner on 29 shots. The Siskins registered one goal on six power play opportunities. North recorded 22 saves for Penetang. The Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
