The Erin Shamrocks and the Schomberg Cougars skate to 1-1 (OT) tie

Erin found itself down againt Schomberg, but battled back to secure to a 1-1 (OT) tie.

The Shamrocks could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Erin averages 3.2 goals per game. The Shamrocks' offense rang up 33 shots on the Cougars' net. Erin's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 11 power play opportunities. The Shamrocks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Erin finished with 42 penalty minutes.

The Shamrocks were led by Jesse Gunn, who scored the team's only goal. Gunn scored 19:29 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Alec Littlejohn assisted on the tally.

Schomberg stifled Erin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars were held below their usual level of production. Schomberg puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The Shamrocks were unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Schomberg eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Cougars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 36 penalty minutes.

Schomberg was led by Linden Sturrock, who scored the team's only goal. Sturrock scored on the power play 14:52 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Schomberg. A high sticking penalty on Gunn had put the Cougars on the power play. Derek Neilly picked up the assist.

Mark Terry made 39 saves for Erin on 40 shots. Schomberg's Alex Traikos stopped 32 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Cougars registered one goal on nine power play opportunities.
