Penetang rolls over Midland, 4-1

The Penetang Kings had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Midland Flyers.

Penetang's Andrew North was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 42 saves and let only one puck past him. North certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.53 entering the contest.

The Kings were paced by Ben Sly, who grabbed one goal. Sly scored 19:38 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Penetang. Matt Meher provided the assist.

Penetang excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Midland was unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Penetang eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Kings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Penetang additionally got points from Craig Robinson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Penetang also had goals scored by Nate Archer and Matt VanBoven, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Matt Gill, who had two and Dallin Blunt and Matt Cochrane, who contributed one each.

The Flyers' offense operated below their season average. Midland averages 3.5 goals per game. The Flyers' offense rang up 43 shots on Penetang's net. Midland was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time.

The Flyers were led by Evan Buehler, who scored the team's only goal. Buehler scored 1:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Midland. Matt Schieck assisted on the tally.

The Kings registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Jake Norton recorded 35 saves for Midland. For the Flyers, Matt Smith was ejected from the game.
