Schomberg's LeRoux deadly on offense in 7-3 win against CaledonCaledon East Arena Sun, Dec 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Carter LeRoux was all over the ice for the Schomberg Cougars, as he tallied two goals in Schomberg's 7-3 win over the Caledon Golden Hawks. LeRoux found the back of the net 6:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Schomberg and again while on the power play 15:35 into the second to make the score 4-2 Schomberg.The Cougars forced Caledon's goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 55 shots and forcing 48 saves. Sam Procopio made 32 stops and Brendan Macham made 16. Schomberg bested its season scoring average. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Schomberg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Schomberg also got points from Liam Spurgeon, who also finished with one goal and one assist and JP Crescenzi, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ryley Egerton also scored for Schomberg. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Linden Sturrock, who had one and Brendan Spencer, who had two. The Golden Hawks forced the Cougars goalie Martin Lauzon to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Caledon had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances. The Golden Hawks were helped by Nicholas McNutt, who racked up one goal. McNutt scored on the power play 11:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Caledon. Caledon earned a power play opportunity when Egerton was put in the box for interference. Daniel Cafagna provided the assist. Caledon also got a goal from Sean Nottle as well. More assists for Caledon came via Tyler Whitten, Michael Andrews, Ryan Mouser, Mathew Pyz, and Christian Mariconda, who contributed one each. Lauzon recorded 43 saves for Schomberg. The Cougars registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Golden Hawks incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Caledon, Randy Chen was ejected from the game.
