Buehler's hat trick boosts Midland over Stayner, 5-3

Evan Buehler netted a hat trick to lead the Midland Flyers over the Stayner Siskins, 5-3.

Buehler got on the scoresheet 4:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 11:29 into the second and at 14:16 into the third.

Midland pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 52 penalty minutes.

Stayner was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Midland eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Flyers managed to hold the Siskins' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage.

Midland also got points from Francesco Corona, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Steven Pickard also scored for Midland. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Matt Schieck, who had three and Cade Ciccone (APM) and Jason Stone, who contributed one each.

Stayner forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The Siskins had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Stayner was helped by Isaac Swanton, who had one goal. Swanton scored 7:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Lafreniere assisted on the tally. Stayner also had goals scored by Lucas Jeffery and Keenan McLaen-Hill, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stayner received assists from Jackson Clarke, Ryan Hudson, and Kyle Paulitzki, who each chipped in one.

Jake Norton made 24 saves for Midland on 27 shots. The Flyers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For Midland, Corona and Matt Hudgin were ejected from the contest. Tyler Atkinson recorded 26 saves for the Siskins. Team's Dakota Hynes and Sean Healy were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
