Erin wins tough contest against Penetang, 6-4

The Erin Shamrocks gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Penetang Kings.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Alec Littlejohn at 15:02 of the second period.

With three goals and two assists between them, Jesse Gunn and Brad Ranson teamed up to power Erin's offense. Gunn racked up two goals and one assist and Ranson also notched one goal and one assist.

The Shamrocks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Erin has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Erin additionally got points from Keegan Martinec, who also registered one goal and one assist, Ranson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Connor Mortimer, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Erin were Mike Nicolucci, who had two and Mike Kri, Liam Kendall, Jeff Brown, and Liam Adamson, who each chipped in one.

Penetang managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. The Kings ended up below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game.

Penetang was led by Matt Meher, who tallied one goal and three assists. Meher scored 3:47 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Erin. Nate Archer picked up the assist. Penetang also got points from Matt Cochrane, who also registered one goal and two assists. Penetang also had goals scored by Nick Heins and Matt Gill, who each put in one.

The Shamrocks' Tom Denstedt stopped 15 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Erin incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Andrew North made 18 saves for the Kings on 24 shots. Penetang registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
