Orillia wins tough contest against Erin, 5-3

The Orillia Terriers and the Erin Shamrocks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Orillia made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mike Barroso secured the win for the Terriers with a goal in the third period.

Orillia was paced by Barroso, who had one goal. Barroso scored 13:29 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Orillia. Mathew White assisted on the tally.

The Terriers forced Erin goalie Tom Denstedt to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Orillia found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Terriers have scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Orillia also had goals scored by Kyle Fischer, Trenton Micks, Taylor Fischer, and Brady Hubbard, who scored one goal each. In addition, Orillia received assists from Shane Carroll, who had two and Ben Garrett, Joey Moir, and Matt Vince, who each chipped in one.

The Shamrocks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Erin was helped by William Patry, who registered one goal. Patry scored 3:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orillia. Brad Ranson provided the assist. Others who scored for Erin included Mike Nicolucci and Alec Littlejohn, who each put in one. More assists for Erin came via Reiss Debrouwer, Brigg Jones, and Mark Terry, who contributed one each.

Gordie Weiss rejected 27 shots on goal for Orillia. The Terriers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Denstedt recorded 38 saves for the Shamrocks. Erin incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
