Penetang falls apart in second, loses to Huntsville, 8-2

The Huntsville Otters used a four-goal second period to put away the Penetang Kings, 8-2.

Andy Baker had two goals to lead Huntsville to victory. Baker found the back of the net on the power play 1:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville and again while 6:55 into the third to make the score 7-2 Huntsville.

The Otters' penalty kill excelled, as Huntsville gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Otters forced Penetang's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Andrew North made 17 stops and Hunter Ferguson made 16. Huntsville outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Otters average 4.2 goals per contest.

Huntsville additionally got points from Nathan Zantingh, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Ellard Sye, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Huntsville included Jake McIntyre, who had two and AJ Campbell (APM), Jay Dix, and Sam King, who each put in one. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Kyle Burns, who had three, Curtis Ballantyne, Dylan McEachran, and Connor Christanson, who contributed one each, and Josh Zantingh and Cody Lefler, who each chipped in two.

The Kings forced Huntsville goalie Christanson to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Penetang was helped by Matt Prucha, who tallied one goal. Prucha scored on the power play 7:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penetang. A roughing penalty on Dalton Mceachran had put the Kings on the power play. Matt Meher picked up the assist. Penetang also got points from Meher, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Ben Sly, who had one.

Connor Christanson made 34 saves for the Otters on 36 shots. Huntsville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Penetang incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
