Alliston survives penalties, beats Schomberg, 5-1

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Alliston Hornets were able to defeat the Schomberg Cougars, 5-1.

Alliston was sparked by Andrew Ceolin, who racked up one goal and one assist. Ceolin scored on the power play 9:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. The Hornets had taken the advantage when Schomberg's Brendan Spencer got sent off for tripping. Jacob Tuck assisted on the tally.

Alliston forced the Cougars' goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Martin Lauzon made 20 stops and Vince Michelizzi made seven. The Hornets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Schomberg power plays. The defensemen of Alliston were also effective in Schomberg's zone, and came away with two goals.

Alliston also got points from Gianluca Pallotta, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tuck, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Joe Cochrane, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Nick Arcan also scored for Alliston. In addition, Alliston received assists from Jackson Arcan, Ryan Sallows, Mackenzie Flewelling, Matt Hamilton, and Jordan Schwartz, who contributed one each.

The Cougars' offense operated below their season average. Schomberg puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

The Cougars were led by Kiefer McIntosh, who scored the team's only goal. McIntosh scored 17:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. JP Crescenzi picked up the assist.

Tyler Brindle rejected 19 shots on goal for the Hornets. Alliston incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Schomberg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
