Alliston boosted by Brindle's play in net, beats Caledon 5-1

The Alliston Hornets relied on the sparkling performance of Tyler Brindle in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Caledon's power play was ineffective against Alliston's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Hornets were paced by Matt Taylor, who finished with one goal. Taylor scored 9:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. John Gage assisted on the tally.

Alliston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Caledon power plays. The Hornets forced the Golden Hawks goalie Brendan Macham to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Alliston got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Alliston additionally got points from Mackenzie Flewelling, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alliston also had goals scored by Mitch Livingston, Gianluca Pallotta APM, and Jordan Schwartz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alliston received assists from Jacob Tuck, who had two and Joe Cochrane, Brady Martin, Nick Arcan, and Matt Hamilton, who each chipped in one.

Caledon was held below its usual level of production. The Golden Hawks average 3.8 goals per game.

Caledon was led by Nicholas McNutt, who scored the team's only goal. McNutt scored 41 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. Daniel Cafagna picked up the assist.

Tyler Brindle made 28 saves for the Hornets on 29 shots. Alliston incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Macham recorded 29 saves for the Golden Hawks. Caledon incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
