Midland beats Erin 8-1 as Buehler gets hat trick

Evan Buehler netted a hat trick to lead the Midland Flyers over the Erin Shamrocks, 8-1.

Buehler's first goal came 17:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:56 into the second and at 5:51 into the third.

Midland's Jake Norton was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 36 saves and let only one puck past him. Norton managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.45 prior to the game.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:42 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Flyers kept Erin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Terry made 39 saves on 47 shots. Midland surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Flyers average 3.7 goals per game.

Midland additionally got points from Francesco Corona, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Tyler Simmons, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Midland included Steven Pickard, Jimmy Walter, and Curtis Anderson, who each put in one. More assists for Midland came via Noah Bray, Jake Dabrowski (APM), Jake Walter, and Matt Hudgin, who each chipped in one and Matt Smith and Matt Schieck, who contributed three each.

The Shamrocks forced Midland goalie Norton to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Erin was led by Alec Littlejohn, who scored the team's only goal. Littlejohn scored 5:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Midland. Jesse Gunn picked up the assist.

The Flyers totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Midland ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hudgin was ejected from the game. The Shamrocks totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Erin, Brendan Riddall was ejected from the game.
