Huntsville rips Penetang, 4-1

The Huntsville Otters were firing on all cylinders against the Penetang Kings, and when the final buzzer sounded Otters emerged with a 4-1 win.

Huntsville was led by goalie Jamie Gee, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Gee certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.85 entering the contest.

The Otters pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 48 penalty minutes.

Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Penetang was unable to stop the Otters from sending pucks towards the net, and Huntsville eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Otters were helped by Nathan Zantingh, who registered one goal. Zantingh scored on the power play 14:33 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Huntsville. Huntsville earned a power play opportunity when Michael Greco was put in the box for slashing. Jared Stevens picked up the assist. Huntsville additionally got points from Andy Baker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Huntsville also had goals scored by Curtis Ballantyne and Myles York, who scored one goal each. More assists for Huntsville came via Jake McIntyre, who had two and Tyler Kalbe, Chris Goodfellow, and Sam King, who each chipped in one.

The Kings could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Penetang averages 3.5 goals per game. The Kings forced the Otters goalie Gee to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Penetang's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Kings finished with 34 penalty minutes.

Huntsville registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Penetang's Andrew North stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
