Schomberg rolls over Penetang, 5-1Trisan Centre Thu, Dec 03, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Schomberg Cougars had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Penetang Kings. Schomberg's penalty kill excelled, as the Cougars gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Schomberg was paced by Kiefer McIntosh, who racked up one goal. McIntosh scored 17:50 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Schomberg. Liam Spurgeon provided the assist. The Cougars stifled Penetang's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Schomberg forced the Kings goalie Andrew North to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Cougars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 50 penalty minutes. Schomberg additionally got points from Derek Neilly, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Evan Woodhead, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Schomberg included Carter LeRoux and Joseph Mete, who each put in one. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Shadoe Storm, who had two and JP Crescenzi, Tristan Joseph, and Tanner Smith, who each chipped in one. Penetang was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The Kings surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Penetang could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Kings put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Penetang was led by Matt Prucha, who scored the team's only goal. Prucha scored 1:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Schomberg. Vince Michelizzi recorded 15 saves for Schomberg. The Cougars registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Andrew North made 34 saves for the Kings on 39 shots. Team's Ben Sly and Matt Gill were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
