Midland trailed Huntsville by one in the first period, but the Flyers did not give up and the game ended in a 1-1 (OT) tie. The Otters put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Midland to score on any of its three power plays. Huntsville was held below its usual level of production. The Otters put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Huntsville was led by Kyle Burns, who scored the team's only goal. Burns scored 12:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Cam Russell picked up the assist. The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Huntsville power plays. Midland could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Flyers average 3.5 goals per game. Midland did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 12 saves. The Flyers were led by Jon Goldsworthy, who scored the team's only goal. Goldsworthy scored 3:06 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Matt Schieck provided the assist. Jamie Gee rejected 12 shots on goal for the Otters. Huntsville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jake Norton made 16 saves for Midland on 17 shots. The Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
