Wellesley downs Paris in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Wellesley Applejacks' Nick Mercier scored 23 seconds into overtime to beat the Paris Mounties, 4-3 (OT).

Wellesley overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Applejacks trailed 3-1 after a goal by Paris' Ryan Stephenson at 3:00 in the second period. Wellesley tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alex Uttley at 14:26 in the third period.

Uttley was all over the ice for the Applejacks, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Uttley scored the first of his two goals at 4:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Jackson Keller assisted on the tally. Uttley's next tally made the score 3-3 with 5:34 left in the third period.

Wellesley put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Mounties to score on any of their four power plays. Paris was unable to stop the Applejacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Wellesley eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wellesley also got a goal from Cal Jefferies as well.

The Mounties forced the Applejacks goalie Ryan Hergott to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Paris was helped by Cole Corriveau, who grabbed one goal. Corriveau scored 8:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Paris. Austin Sine picked up the assist. Brady Wheelans also scored for Paris. In addition, Paris received assists from Richard Brooks, Brayden Lane, Brodie Smith, and Tysen Willemsen, who each chipped in one.

Ryan Hergott made 30 saves for Wellesley on 33 shots. The Applejacks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Mounties' Zach Shomphe stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Paris incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
