Burford completes comeback, beats Delhi, 3-2Delhi Community Centre Sun, Jan 24, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Delhi Travellers could not hold down the Burford Bulldogs, and Bulldogs erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win. Burford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Bulldogs trailed 2-0 after a goal by Delhi's Max Klunder at 17:48 in the first period. Burford knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Daiken Salsman at 3:03 in the third period. The Bulldogs scored the game winner at 18:58 in the third period on a goal by Salsman. Burford was led by Jesse Brooks, who racked up one goal and one assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:54 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Travellers to score on any of their four power plays. Burford forced Delhi goalie Kodie Oude to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Burford additionally got points from Salsman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Hayden Hellyer also scored for Burford. In addition, Burford received assists from David Denardi, Tyler Hinde, Josiah Vanwyngaarden, and Warren Gorman AP, who contributed one each. The Travellers stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Delhi kept Burford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Black made 34 saves on 36 shots. Delhi also got points from Jared Ebdon, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Teran Cloet, Rhett Roney, and Dylan Wales, who each chipped in one. The Bulldogs totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. Burford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brendyn Martyniuk was ejected from the game. Oude rejected 36 shots on goal for the Travellers. Delhi ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Travellers, Chad Ingalls was ejected from the game.
