Paris outlasts Woodstock, 4-2Brant Sports Complex Sun, Jan 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Paris Mounties and the Woodstock Navy Vets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Paris made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Ryan Stephenson at 12:14 of the third period. Woodstock's power play was ineffective against the Mounties' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Paris was led by Stephenson, who finished with one goal. The Mounties put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Navy Vets to score on any of their six power plays. Paris also got points from Brodie Smith, who also had one goal and one assist and Graham Evans, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brady Wheelans also scored for Paris. More assists for Paris came via Patrick Snell, who had two and Mitchell Harvey, Keegan Alvestad, and Mikael Ruffini, who each chipped in one. Woodstock's offense rang up 32 shots on Paris' net. The Navy Vets were helped by Max Racicot, who tallied one goal. Racicot scored 15:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Woodstock. Chris Nauts provided the assist. Woodstock also got a goal from Dan Haig as well. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Austin Richardson, Jack Taylor, and Tyler Arsenault, who contributed one each. Zach Shomphe made 30 saves for the Mounties on 32 shots. Paris incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. North Davies recorded 26 saves for Woodstock. The Navy Vets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Woodstock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Elms was ejected from the game.
