Arsenault nets hat trick, leads Woodstock to 8-4 win over Burford

Tyler Arsenault lifted the Woodstock Navy Vets to an 8-4 victory with a hat trick against the Burford Bulldogs.

Arsenault notched his first tally 24 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 9:01 into the second and at 19:49 into the third.

Burford's power play was ineffective against Woodstock's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Navy Vets forced the Bulldogs goalie Michael Black to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Woodstock surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Navy Vets average 3.0 goals per game. Woodstock could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Woodstock also got points from Chris Nauts, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Austin Richardson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Gray Sinden, who also had one goal and one assist, and Dylan Wettlaufer, who also finished with one goal and two assists. More assists for Woodstock came via Justin Elms and Jake Schneider, who contributed one each and Jack Taylor and Dan Haig, who each chipped in two.

Burford was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 42 penalty minutes.

The Bulldogs were helped by Warren Gorman AP, who grabbed one goal. Gorman AP scored 8:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jason Osztrovics AP provided the assist. Others who scored for Burford included Hayden Hellyer, Kurtis Christo, and Mitch Randell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Burford received assists from Owen Hinch and Jesse Szabo, who contributed two each.

North Davies rejected 23 shots on goal for the Navy Vets. Woodstock registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Michael Black made 27 saves for Burford on 35 shots.
