The Woodstock Navy Vets had trouble finding ways to stop the New Hamburg Firebirds, which beat Navy Vets, 7-3. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:02 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. New Hamburg forced Woodstock's netminders to work all game long, ripping 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Mike Harrison made 12 stops and North Davies made 12. The Firebirds surpassed their usual scoring output this season. New Hamburg has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Firebirds capitalized on the Navy Vets' penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. New Hamburg was led by Jerry Ennett, who registered two goals and one assist. Ennett scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:10 into the second period to make the score 4-1 New Hamburg. The Firebirds earned a power play opportunity when Jake Schneider was put in the box for holding. Chris Eckert provided the assist. Ennett's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 New Hamburg with 10:31 left in the third period. Colin Martin assisted on the tally. New Hamburg additionally got points from Tyler Randerson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Curtis Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. Wettlaufer scored on the power play 7:52 into the third period to make the score 5-3 New Hamburg. Woodstock had gotten the advantage when the Firebirds' Randerson was sent off for hooking. Austin Richardson picked up the assist. Woodstock also got points from Jack Taylor, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cam Leslie also scored for Woodstock. More assists for Woodstock came via Ryan Taylor, who had one. Ryan Purcell rejected 19 shots on goal for New Hamburg. The Firebirds ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. New Hamburg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Martin was ejected from the game. The Navy Vets ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Woodstock, Chris Nauts and Ryan MacDonald were ejected from the contest.
