Gillis' hat trick boosts Norwich over Burford, 6-4

The Burford Bulldogs could not stop the Norwich Merchants' Jordan Gillis, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-4 win.

Gillis notched his first tally 2:59 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:46 into the second and at 10:07 into the third.

Norwich led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Merchants' Noah Burns scored at 16:20 in the second period to put Norwich up 5-2.

Burford was unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Norwich eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Merchants outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Norwich averages 3.3 goals per contest. Penalties took their toll on the Merchants, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Norwich additionally got points from Brandon Velda, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Ray Munro, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Burns, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Norwich received assists from Troy Lamoure, who had two and Brett Parsons, Derek Slaght, and Riley Monture, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs' offense rang up 38 shots on Norwich's net.

Burford was led by Kurtis Christo, who grabbed two goals and two assists. Christo scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:14 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Norwich. The Bulldogs had gotten the advantage when the Merchants' Jordan Everets was sent off for tripping. Jensen DaSilva assisted on the tally. Christo's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Norwich with 1:42 left in the second period. David Denardi picked up the assist. Burford also got a goal from Matt Zilke as well. More assists for Burford came via Jesse Szabo and Nolan Ferris, who contributed one each.

Andrew Hawkins rejected 34 shots on goal for Norwich. The Merchants incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michael Black made 35 saves for Burford on 41 shots. The Bulldogs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
