Ayr holds on for 3-2 win against Tavistock

The Ayr Centennials survived a determined comeback attempt by the Tavistock Braves on the way to a 3-2 win.

Ayr took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Tavistock storm back on a James McHugh goal 10:37 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Centennials were sparked by Jordan Pettitt, who had one goal. Pettitt scored 19:36 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Ayr. Quinn Diamond picked up the assist.

Ayr's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Tavistock power plays. The Centennials were held below their usual level of production. Ayr puts an average of 5.4 pucks into the net per game. The Centennials kept the Braves' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ben Larder made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Ayr also got points from Diamond, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ayr also got a goal from Yianni Skropolis as well. More assists for Ayr came via Tyler Harrison, who had two and Jake Whibbs, Jackson White, and Connor MacLean, who each chipped in one.

Ayr was unable to stop Tavistock from sending pucks towards the net, and the Braves eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Tavistock additionally got points from Jacob Rooke, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Mackenzie Sealy and Kevan Hadad, who contributed one each.

Hayden Padalino made 29 saves for the Centennials on 31 shots. Ayr incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tavistock incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
