Kleine, Hoffman dominate Paris, lead New Hamburg to 6-3 win

Behind two goals from Tyler Kleine and one goal Tyler Hoffman, the New Hamburg Firebirds downed the Paris Mounties 6-3.

Kleine scored the first of his two goals at 6:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Randerson provided the assist. Kleine's next tally made the score 5-3 New Hamburg with 6:32 left in the third period. Hoffman scored 1:33 into the third period to make the score 4-3 New Hamburg. Jerry Ennett picked up the assist.

New Hamburg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Paris to score on any of its three power plays. The Firebirds' offense rang up 38 shots on the Mounties' net.

Others who scored for New Hamburg included Peter Brindley, Walker Davison, and Brodie Muckler, who scored one goal each. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Mario Alyas, Garrett Pollock, Adam Zehr, and Carter Tracey, who each chipped in one.

Paris excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances.

The Mounties were led by Brady Wheelans, who tallied two goals and one assist. Wheelans scored the first of his two goals at 19:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. Richard Brooks assisted on the tally. Wheelans' next tally made the score 3-2 Paris with 3:31 left in the second period. Austin Kovrig picked up the assist. Paris also got points from Kovrig, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Paris came via Brodie Smith, who had two.

New Hamburg's Ryan Purcell stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Firebirds incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Zach Shomphe rejected 32 shots on goal for Paris. The Mounties incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
