Paris downs Woodstock in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Paris Mounties' Richard Brooks scored 41 seconds into overtime to beat the Woodstock Navy Vets, 5-4 (OT).

Woodstock could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Paris made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Keegan Alvestad at 17:36 in the second period. The Navy Vets got to within 4-3 on a goal by Chris Jensen at 10:33 in the third period.

Brooks had a great game for the Mounties, netting two goals.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:04 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Paris kept Woodstock's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jackson Swindells made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Paris additionally got points from Brodie Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mikael Ruffini also scored for Paris. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Mitchell Harvey, Austin Sine, and Austin Kovrig, who contributed one each and Brady Wheelans and Griffin Heitshu, who each chipped in two.

The Navy Vets were led by Dylan Wettlaufer, who grabbed two goals. Wettlaufer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:27 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Paris. Woodstock had gained a power play chance when Garrett Kirby was whistled for fighting. Chris Thompson provided the assist. Wettlaufer's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 1:26 left in the third period. Kolby Francis assisted on the tally. Woodstock also got a goal from Chris Nauts as well. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Austin Richardson and Jack Taylor, who contributed one each.

Zach Shomphe recorded 26 saves for the Mounties. Paris totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Mounties, Kirby was ejected from the game. The Navy Vets totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Woodstock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeremy Racicot was ejected from the game.
