GAME RECAP

Huge game by Lamoure boosts Norwich over Delhi, 5-1

Norwich Community Center    Fri, Nov 27, 2015

Behind a great game by Troy Lamoure, who had two goals and one assist, the Norwich Merchants defeated the Delhi Travellers, 5-1.

Lamoure's tallies came on the power play at 15:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 18 seconds into the third to make the score 3-1 Norwich.

Norwich's Andrew Hawkins was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Hawkins will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.51.

The Merchants stifled Delhi's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Travellers were unable to stop Norwich from sending pucks towards the net, and the Merchants eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Norwich got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Norwich also had goals scored by Matt Dipaolo, Ryan Dayman, and Brandon Velda, who scored one goal each. More assists for Norwich came via Derek Slaght, Matt Caskanette, Adam Harris, Zack Morrison, and Noah Burns, who contributed one each.

Delhi's offense rang up 32 shots on the Merchants' net. The Travellers' penalty kill unit could not stop Norwich's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

Delhi was led by Rhett Roney, who scored the team's only goal. Roney scored 2:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Kelsey Van Ymeren assisted on the tally.

The Merchants incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kodie Oude recorded 29 saves for the Travellers. Delhi incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
