New Hamburg rides Purcell to victory over Ayr, 4-1

Ryan Purcell stood on his head and made 36 saves to lead the New Hamburg Firebirds to a 4-1 victory over the Ayr Centennials.

New Hamburg was led by Tyler Kleine, who grabbed one goal. Kleine scored on the power play 12:58 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New Hamburg. The Firebirds earned a power play opportunity when Zachary Masterson was put in the box for goalie interference. Jerry Ennett picked up the assist.

New Hamburg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Ayr power plays.

New Hamburg also got points from Colin Martin, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ennett, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. New Hamburg also got a goal from Ben Playfair as well. More assists for New Hamburg came via Chris Eckert, who had two and Curtis Smith and Tyler Hoffman, who each chipped in one.

Ayr did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Centennials put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. Ayr's offense rang up 37 shots on the Firebirds' net.

In addition, Ayr received assists from Quinn Diamond, who had one.

New Hamburg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mitch Figueirdo made 23 saves for the Centennials on 27 shots. Ayr incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
