Ayr holds on for 3-1 win against Tavistock

The Tavistock Braves tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Ayr Centennials held on for a 3-1 victory.

A goal by Quinn Diamond put Ayr up 3-0 in the first period, but Tavistock pulled to within two on Jamie Shoemaker's tally 8:45 into the third period.

The Centennials' Hayden Padalino was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Padalino managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.33 prior to the game.

Ayr did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Centennials put an average of 5.7 pucks into the net per game.

Ayr was helped by Jake Whibbs, who registered one goal. Whibbs scored 10:47 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ayr. Logan Beechey assisted on the tally. Mitch Klie also scored for Ayr. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Riley Clipper, Zachary Masterson, Tyler Harrison, Cash Seraphim, and Brendan Schaefer, who contributed one each.

The Braves were held below their usual level of production. Tavistock averages 3.5 goals per game.

More assists for Tavistock came via Tyson Zehr and Derek Hyde, who each chipped in one.

The Centennials incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves' Riley Collins stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Tavistock incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
