Paris' Smith deadly on offense in 6-2 win against WellesleyWellesley Fri, Nov 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Brodie Smith had two goals to lead the Paris Mounties to a 6-2 victory over the Wellesley Applejacks. Smith scored at 13:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris and again while on the power play 58 seconds into the third to make the score 2-0 Paris.Wellesley's power play was ineffective against Paris' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Mounties put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Applejacks to score on any of their nine power plays. Wellesley was unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Paris additionally got points from Griffin Heitshu, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Paris also got a goal from Richard Brooks as well. In addition, Paris received assists from Austin Sine, who had two and Keegan Alvestad, Brady Wheelans, Austin Kovrig, and Vincent Robbins, who each chipped in one. The Applejacks forced Mounties' goalies to work without much rest, launching 32 shots and forcing 30 saves. Zach Shomphe made 30 stops and Connor Curtin made zero. Wellesley was led by Sean McEwan, who had one goal. McEwan scored 3:41 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Paris. Garrett Schultz picked up the assist. Joe Heath also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Alex Uttley and Nick Mercier, who contributed one each. Paris incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Mounties, Nick Palmer was ejected from the game. Ryan Porter made 26 saves for the Applejacks on 32 shots. Wellesley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
