The New Hamburg Firebirds and the Wellesley Applejacks skate to 3-3 (OT) tieWilmot Recreation Complex Fri, Nov 13, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
New Hamburg and Wellesley could not settle their match and fought to a 3-3 tie. The Firebirds forced the Applejacks goalie Ryan Porter to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. New Hamburg was helped by Brodie Muckler, who racked up one goal. Muckler scored on the power play 8:12 into the second period to make the score 3-2 New Hamburg. The Firebirds earned a power play opportunity when Porter was put in the box for tripping. David Jennings assisted on the tally. Others who scored for New Hamburg included Tyler Randerson and Anthony Osterling, who scored one goal each. More assists for New Hamburg came via Peter Brindley, Mario Alyas, Chris Eckert, and Carter Tracey, who contributed one each. Wellesley's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Applejacks were helped by Matthew Lantz, who registered one goal. Lantz scored on the power play 9:43 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Wellesley had gotten the advantage when New Hamburg's Muckler was sent off for roughing. Jackson Keller picked up the assist. Wellesley also had goals scored by Jake Wilkinson and Alex Uttley, who each put in one. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Joe Heath, Cal Jefferies, Sean McEwan, and David Elford, who each chipped in one. The Firebirds' Ryan Purcell stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. New Hamburg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryan Porter made 41 saves for the Applejacks on 44 shots. Wellesley incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
