Ennett's goals lift New Hamburg to 8-3 victory over Delhi

Behind a great game by Jerry Ennett, who had two goals, the New Hamburg Firebirds defeated the Delhi Travellers, 8-3.

Ennett found the back of the net on the power play 18:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 6:21 into the second to make the score 4-1 New Hamburg.

New Hamburg's penalty kill excelled, as the Firebirds gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

New Hamburg racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Firebirds surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. New Hamburg's offense rang up 46 shots on Delhi's net. The Firebirds' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, New Hamburg averages 4.9 goals per contest.

New Hamburg also got points from Walker Davison, who also registered one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also had goals scored by Tyler Randerson, who had two and Anthony Osterling, Brodie Muckler, and Tyler Hoffman, who each put in one. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Ethan Adair, who had three, Peter Brindley, Josh Waters, Tyler Kleine, Mario Alyas, Curtis Smith, and Chris Eckert, who each chipped in one, and Colin Martin and Carter Tracey, who contributed two each.

The Travellers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Delhi was helped by Jared Ebdon, who registered two goals. Ebdon scored the first of his two goals at 1:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Ebdon's next tally made the score 6-2 New Hamburg with 19:26 left in the third period. Brandon Szymesko picked up the assist. Delhi additionally got points from Rhett Roney, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Chris Spinello, who had one.

Tanner Topham made 27 saves for the Firebirds on 30 shots. New Hamburg registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Firebirds ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eckert was ejected from the game. Kodie Oude rejected 38 shots on goal for the Travellers.
