Ayr uses big second period to beat Burford, 10-3

The Ayr Centennials scored six goals in the second period to pull away from the Burford Bulldogs and clinch a 10-3 win.

Cash Seraphim had two goals and three assists to lead Ayr. Seraphim scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ayr. The Centennials had gotten the advantage when Burford's Owen Hinch was sent off for holding. Brendan Schaefer assisted on the tally. Seraphim's next tally on the power play made the score 7-1 Ayr with 7:55 left in the second period. Schaefer picked up the assist.

Ayr forced Bulldogs' goalies to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 21 saves. Riley Edwards made eight stops and Jack Stockdale made 13. The Centennials surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Ayr averages 5.6 goals per game.

Ayr additionally got points from Jake Whibbs, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Mitch Klie, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Tyler Harrison, who also registered one goal and two assists, Quinn Diamond, who also had two goals and one assist, and Schaefer, who also tallied one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Ayr included Carver Ormiston and Felix Lantaigne, who each put in one. More assists for Ayr came via Riley Clipper, who had two and Mackenzie Kemp, Ben Roelofson, Connor MacLean, John Nay, and Yianni Skropolis, who each chipped in one.

The Centennials were unable to stop the Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Burford eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Bulldogs were helped by Scott Penwarden, who had one goal and one assist. Penwarden scored 13:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Daiken Salsman provided the assist. Burford also got points from Salsman, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Burford received assists from Connor MacKay and Tyler Hinde, who contributed one each.

Hayden Padalino recorded 31 saves for Ayr. The Centennials incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Burford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
