Norwich rides Lefebvre to victory over Paris, 5-1Brant Sports Complex Sat, Nov 07, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Andrew Lefebvre helped the Norwich Merchants defeat the Paris Mounties, 5-1. Jordan Gillis was all over the ice for Norwich, as he racked up two goals in the win. Gillis scored on the power play at 1:59 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Norwich and again while 15:30 into the third to make the score 5-1 Norwich. Paris' power play was ineffective against the Merchants' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Norwich's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Paris power plays. The Merchants surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Norwich averages 2.8 goals per contest. Norwich also got points from Ray Munro, who also had one goal and one assist. Norwich also had goals scored by Ryan Dayman and Noah Burns, who each put in one. In addition, Norwich received assists from Jesse Dunn, Matt Dipaolo, Adam Harris, and Troy Lamoure, who each chipped in one and Brad Vervaecke and Zack Morrison, who contributed two each. The Mounties' offense operated below their season average. Paris averages 4.6 goals per game. The Mounties kept the Merchants' goalie busy throughout the game, and Lefebvre made 40 saves on 41 shots. Paris was led by Brayden Lane, who scored the team's only goal. Lane scored 2:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Norwich. Cole Corriveau assisted on the tally. Norwich incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Zach Shomphe recorded 13 saves for the Mounties. Paris incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
