Tavistock rolls over Wellesley, 6-2

The Wellesley Applejacks had trouble finding ways to stop the Tavistock Braves, which beat Applejacks, 6-2.

Tyson Zehr had one goal and two assists to lead Tavistock. Zehr scored 3:07 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Tavistock. Jared Yantzi provided the assist.

The Braves' penalty kill excelled, as Tavistock gave up one goal despite allowing 11 power plays.

The Braves forced Wellesley's goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Noah Leis made 13 stops and Ryan Porter made 13. Tavistock outdid its season average for goals scored. The Braves have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Tavistock could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tavistock additionally got points from Jacob Rooke, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Tavistock also had goals scored by Shaun Pickering, who had two and Tannar Johnson and Kevan Hadad, who each put in one. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Derek Hyde, who had one, Angus Rowland, who had two, and Jake Wiffen, who had three.

The Applejacks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Braves' Ben Larder stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Tavistock registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Braves, Cody Bateman was ejected from the game.
