Ayr rips Tavistock, 6-2

The Ayr Centennials had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Tavistock Braves.

Connor MacLean had a great game for Ayr, netting two goals. MacLean's tallies came on the power play at 12:47 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Ayr and 18:15 into the second to make the score 4-2 Ayr.

The Centennials pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 27 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:53 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Ayr excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Centennials' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Ayr additionally got points from Mitch Klie, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Cash Seraphim, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ayr also had goals scored by Mackenzie Kemp and Felix Lantaigne, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ayr received assists from Ben Roelofson, Jackson White, Tyler Harrison, Carver Ormiston, Jordan Pettitt, and Yianni Skropolis, who contributed one each.

Tavistock was helped by Jacob Rooke, who had one goal. Rooke scored 17:26 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Ayr. Kevan Hadad picked up the assist. Tyson Zehr also scored for Tavistock. More assists for Tavistock came via Jake Wiffen and Josh Borys, who each chipped in one.

Hayden Padalino made 22 saves for Ayr on 24 shots. The Centennials registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Ayr ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Skropolis was ejected from the game. Horia Lucaciu took the loss and made 11 saves before being replaced by Jensen Van Boekel who made eight saves. The Braves ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Tavistock, Derek Hyde was ejected from the game.
