New Hamburg blows out Delhi, 7-1

The Delhi Travellers had trouble finding ways to stop the New Hamburg Firebirds, which beat Travellers, 7-1.

New Hamburg got the win with help from a great game by Carter Tracey, who had two goals and one assist. Tracey scored the first of his two goals at 9:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Walker Davison provided the assist. Tracey's next tally made the score 5-1 New Hamburg with 16:49 left in the second period. Davison picked up the assist.

The Firebirds forced Delhi's netminders to work in net, taking 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Mike Harrison made 24 stops and Kodie Oude made 10. New Hamburg surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Firebirds average 4.8 goals per game.

New Hamburg additionally got points from Tyler Randerson, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brodie Muckler, who also registered one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also had goals scored by Ethan Adair, Tyler Kleine, and Jerry Ennett, who each put in one. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from David Jennings, who had one and Colin Martin, Chris Eckert, and Tyler Hoffman, who each chipped in two.

New Hamburg's defense shut down the Travellers' forwards for much of the game, and Delhi got off only 13 shots during the contest.

The Travellers were led by Nick Love, who scored the team's only goal. Love scored on the power play 4:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Delhi had gotten the advantage when the Firebirds' Jennings was sent off for goalie interference. Greg Tucci provided the assist.

Tanner Topham made 12 saves for New Hamburg on 13 shots. The Firebirds incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Travellers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
