Norwich falls to Ayr in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Ayr Centennials pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Norwich Merchants on a clutch goal by Mitch Klie.

Although Ayr was up by as many as three goals in the second period, Norwich kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Merchants got to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Riley Monture at 12:01 in the third period.

The Centennials were led by Klie, who registered one goal and one assist. Klie scored on the power play 3:22 into to make the score 5-4 Ayr. Ayr had gotten the advantage when Norwich's Jordan Everets was sent off for tripping. Quinn Diamond assisted on the tally.

The Centennials' offense rang up 42 shots on the Merchants' net. Ayr was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Ayr also got points from Ben Roelofson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ayr also got a goal from Riley Clipper as well. In addition, Ayr received assists from Cash Seraphim, who had one and Tyler Harrison, who had three.

Norwich got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Norwich also had goals scored by Daniel Rizzo and Michael Young, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Andrew Lefebvre, Jesse Dunn, Matt Dipaolo, Matt Caskanette, Ryan Dayman, and Zack Morrison, who each chipped in one.

Hayden Padalino rejected 14 shots on goal for the Centennials. Ayr registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. Andrew Lefebvre made 37 saves for the Merchants on 42 shots. Norwich incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
