Tracey's big game bests Paris in 6-3 New Hamburg winBrant Sports Complex Sat, Oct 24, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Carter Tracey was all over the ice for the New Hamburg Firebirds, as he tallied two goals and one assist in New Hamburg's 6-3 win over the Paris Mounties. Tracey scored on the power play at 18:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New Hamburg and again while 10:01 into the second to make the score 4-0 New Hamburg.Paris' power play was ineffective against the Firebirds' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:04 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. New Hamburg was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Firebirds surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. New Hamburg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Mounties to score on any of their six power plays. New Hamburg additionally got points from Brandon Quan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tyler Randerson also scored for New Hamburg. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Tyler Kleine, Andrew Boer, and Garrett Pollock, who each chipped in one and Jerry Ennett, Chris Eckert, and Brodie Muckler, who contributed two each. The Firebirds were unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Paris was helped by Richard Brooks, who had one goal and one assist. Brooks scored 6:52 into the third period to make the score 4-2 New Hamburg. Keegan Alvestad picked up the assist. Paris also got points from Alvestad, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Paris also got a goal from Griffin Heitshu as well. More assists for Paris came via Mitchell Harvey, Austin Sine, Brady Wheelans, and Brodie Smith, who each chipped in one. Ryan Purcell made 48 saves for New Hamburg on 51 shots. The Firebirds registered one goal on four power play opportunities. New Hamburg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Peter Brindley was ejected from the game. Zach Shomphe rejected 20 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For the Mounties, Joshua Schafer and Garrett Kirby were ejected from the contest.
