Ayr pulls away in second, rolls over Paris, 7-2

The Paris Mounties was within striking distance after one period, but the Ayr Centennials put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-2 victory.

Paris' power play was ineffective against Ayr's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Centennials forced the Mounties goalie Zach Shomphe to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Ayr could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of the Centennials were also effective in Paris' zone, and came away with two goals.

Ayr was led by Quinn Diamond, who had one goal and one assist. Diamond scored 1:36 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Ayr. Tyler Harrison picked up the assist. Ayr additionally got points from Ben Roelofson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Yianni Skropolis, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ayr also had goals scored by Jackson White, Riley Clipper, Connor MacLean, and Cash Seraphim, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Mackenzie Kemp, Mitch Klie, Austin Kovrig, John Nay, and Logan Beechey, who contributed one each.

The Mounties' offense operated below their season average. Paris averages 5.0 goals per game. The Mounties kept the Centennials' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hayden Padalino made 30 saves on 32 shots. Paris found itself short handed often, totaling 30 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

The Mounties were led by Tyler Arsenault, who registered one goal. Arsenault scored on the power play 5:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ayr. An interference penalty on Sean Mitchell had put Paris on the power play. Ryan Stephenson assisted on the tally. Austin Sine also scored for Paris. In addition, Paris received assists from Griffin Heitshu and Brodie Smith, who each chipped in one.

Zach Shomphe made 32 saves for the Mounties on 39 shots.
