Padalino strong in net as Ayr tops Woodstock, 3-1North Dumfries Sun, Oct 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Woodstock Navy Vets managed to get plenty of pucks to the net, but the Ayr Centennials' goalie Hayden Padalino stood tall to lead his team to a 3-1 win. Ayr was led by Riley Clipper, who finished with one goal and one assist. Clipper scored 18:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ayr. Tyler Harrison picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:57 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Centennials forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Ayr surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. The Centennials stifled Woodstock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ayr did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Centennials average 5.2 goals per game. Ayr's offense rang up 51 shots on the Navy Vets' net. Ayr also got points from Quinn Diamond, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ayr also got a goal from Mackenzie Kemp as well. More assists for Ayr came via Jake Whibbs and Cash Seraphim, who contributed one each. Woodstock was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the Navy Vets had been spending in the box. Woodstock forced the Centennials' goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 31 shots and forcing 30 saves. Padalino made 19 stops and Ryan Hergott made 11. The Navy Vets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Woodstock was led by Braden Hutchison, who scored the team's only goal. Hutchison scored 58 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Woodstock. Chris Nauts assisted on the tally. For Ayr, Felix Lantaigne was ejected from the game. Jackson Swindells recorded 48 saves for the Navy Vets. Woodstock registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. The Navy Vets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Garrett Whetham was ejected from the game.
