The Burford Bulldogs tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the New Hamburg Firebirds would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

New Hamburg made the score 3-0 on a goal by Tyler Randerson at 13:17 in the second period, and Burford got as close as 3-1 when Ryan Cadwell scored 10 seconds into the third period.

Randerson had two goals and one assist to lead the Firebirds. Randerson scored the first of his two goals at 4:20 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New Hamburg. Thomas Rea assisted on the tally. Randerson's next tally made the score 3-0 New Hamburg with 6:43 left in the second period. David Jennings provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:45 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Mario Alyas also scored for New Hamburg.

The Bulldogs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Burford had been spending in the box. The Bulldogs were held below their usual level of production. Burford averages 3.4 goals per game.

Ryan Purcell rejected 18 shots on goal for New Hamburg. The Firebirds totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-7 on the power play. For New Hamburg, Colin Martin and Alyas were ejected from the contest. Riley Edwards made 20 saves for the Bulldogs on 23 shots. Burford registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Team's Blaise Burtnick, Tyler Hinde, and Jesse Brooks were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
