Paris holds on for 6-4 win against WellesleyBrant Sports Complex Sat, Oct 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Paris Mounties survived a determined comeback attempt by the Wellesley Applejacks on the way to a 6-4 win. A goal by Mikael Ruffini put Paris up 6-3 in the third period, but Wellesley pulled to within two on Cal Jefferies's tally 19:45 into the third period. Brodie Smith had two goals and one assist to lead the Mounties. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 5:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. Steven Goeree picked up the assist. Smith's next tally made the score 4-3 Paris with 2:46 left in the second period. Paris had gotten the advantage when the Applejacks' Ryan Porter was sent off for delay of game. Brady Wheelans provided the assist. The Mounties kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Porter made 29 saves on 35 shots. Paris additionally got points from Austin Sine, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Ruffini, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Paris included Keegan Alvestad and Tyler Arsenault, who scored one goal each. In addition, Paris received assists from Joshua Schafer and Garrett Kirby, who each chipped in one. Paris was unable to stop the Applejacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Wellesley eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Applejacks struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Brenden Goran also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Spencer Brick, Joe Heath, Brady Gerber, Matthew Lantz, Sean McEwan, and Nicholas Breault, who contributed one each. The Mounties' Connor Curtin stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Paris ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Mounties ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cole Corriveau was ejected from the game. Wellesley registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
